SURPRISE LILY - BUDDING. Five days after this plant poked its head through the dry, hard soil with nary a leaf in sight, it has climbed to over two feet in height and started to reveal its pink flower. The plant seems to flourish despite 90-degree heat and intense sunlight day after day. Friends tell us they have surprise lilies that are four generations old in their near westside yard.
